Google Play Store, or Play Store for short, is where owners of Android-powered devices, such as smartphones and tablets, go to download games, applications, music and more. The Play Store has millions upon millions of useful applications to use in your daily life, the best mobile games, and all the latest music, tv shows, movies and other entertainment. If you own an Android device, you most likely already know all of this. For those who have never used Play Store before, let me tell you: it is overflowing with awesome content. Just to give you an idea of how much Android users love the Play Store, to date there have been more than 60 Billion downloads there.
So, current Android users have every reason to want access to all the same downloadable content on their PC, not just their mobile devices. Anyone who doesn’t own an Android device might be wondering if there is any way that they can get access to the Play Store without having to go out and buy a new phone or tablet by putting it on their desktop or laptop computer. The good news is that there is a fairly simple way to be able to access all of the same material in the Play Store on your PC as well.
How to Install Play Store on PC
Play Store is an app designed to run only on Android devices, which means you can’t just install the file for Play Store to your computer and have it work. Your PC doesn’t run on the Android operating system, so it won’t be able to read the file if you do this. What we will need to do is make your PC believe that it is an Android device, which is less complicated than it sounds. We’re going to do this by installing a program called an Android emulator; basically it’s a program that will allow your PC to install and run all the apps that would normally only be available on an Android device. There are many such emulators available, but I think the best one is a little program called Bluestacks. It’s a very sophisticated Android emulator that has been downloaded by more than 90 million people, and one of the best things about it is you have a choice about how you want to use it. Bluestacks has the ability to search the same content library as Google Play without actually needing the Play Store app to be installed. But if you would rather go directly through the Play Store, which may be a more secure way to download apps, you will have that option as well.
Download and Install Bluestacks
Downloading Bluestacks on your PC is very easy, but before you do it’s a good idea to make sure your PC setup is compatible with the program. One of the most important things is that you need to have updated drivers for your graphics cards; otherwise your computer might not be able to support a lot of the best apps. You also need to have at least 2 GB of RAM and at least 9 GB of disk space. If you are using an older version of Windows, like Windows Vista or Windows XP, you need specific service packs installed in order to install Bluestacks. Windows Vista requires Service Pack 2 or higher, and Windows XP requires Service Pack 3 or higher and Windows Installer 4.5 installed.
If your PC meets these requirements, you can now download Bluestacks by using the web browser on your PC to go to their official website,www.bluestacks.com, and click the download button. When the download is finished, follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation.
Play Store on Bluestacks
Now, if you’re satisfied using the Bluestacks interface to search for apps and games the same way Play Store would, then you’re finished and you can start downloading Play Store content to your PC through the Bluestacks program. If you would rather download your content directly from Google in the actual Play Store, you can make the Play Store app run in Bluestacks by doing the following: in Bluestacks, click on the “All Apps +” button, which will take you to a screen displaying all the apps you have installed there. Select “Browser”, which will open an internet browser within the Bluestacks program. Use that browser to go to the Play Store website, https://play.google.com, and then you’re done. You can use the Play Store in the Bluestacks browser window just like you would use the Play Store app on your Android smartphone or tablet. You can download and install apps from the Play Store and they will be installed into the Bluestacks program, where you will be able to access them any time you want.
